Valmiki Tiger Reserve forms the eastern most limit of the Himalayan Terai forests in India, and is the only tiger reserve of Bihar. Set in the eastern tip of the dense Himalayan Terai forest covering parts of India and Nepal. The Reserve covers around 898.45 sq km of dense forest area. The jungle merges with the Chitwan National Park and Parsa Wildlife Reserve in the neighbouring country of Nepal. The sparkling Masaan river adds to the richness of the landscape and nurtures the bio-diversified flora and fauna of the region. The exotic landscape of the region encompasses the scenic foothills of the Himalayan Shivalik range, rivers, gorges, streams , open woodlands and dense foliage.
